For some of us already too much has happened since the last edition of our community-letter, especially under the impacts of the floods.
The series concerning the fundamental theological decisions of the Early Church has been continued and reached its end for the time being.
...what has been considered until today by Julian Sartorius:
Thoughts about the first days of the Christian community, about Petrus, the Last Supper (2001/4); emperor Constantin, the Creation of the New Testament (2002/1), the first councils, the first convictions of scholars; Theology of the two great "Katechetenschulen" with their different approaches (2002/2) and the opinion to be justified under all circumstances...
For Whitsuntide 431 Valentinian III. Assignes the councel to Ephesus, with the intention to solve the disagreements about Nestorius.
Heidi Sartorius says in part of a sermon concerning Prayer-Quietness-Meditation (Mk. 6, 30-45): A few thoughts: Neither wanted Jesus a burn-out situation among his disciples nor among us, and that's why he stated from time to time: "Leave for a lonesome, quiet place! You need rest!" He told them directly, after they had reported about their missionary activities. - And I, again, realize, how important the conversation with Jesus about our daily matters is. It helps us to revue the days work and we can expect an answer.
Through Quietness and hope you will be strengthened, it is mentioned with Jesaja. - That's what I experienced myself lately: Out of Quietness, which may be very eloquent, because He speaks, a atmosphere of "energetic charge" is built up. He transfers His strength upon us, his courage and his love, and we can truly feel, that His power becomes great within the weak.
Dr. Sumaya Farhat-Naser, lecturer at the Palestinian University Birseit and head of the Palestinian "Jerusalem Center of Women", preached about her personal experiences as a peace-keeper in Israel / Palestine on June 23, 2002. She described her country as two separated prisons, divided into little prisons. She is convinced that the will for peace - here and there - in Palestine as well as in Israel is alive. Dramatic are the encounters she experienced during her work.
Set a responsible sign for peace: Emergency-Pack for Palestinian midwives are urgently required in order to keep up the medical supply. Your help is needed: Evangelische Frauenarbeit, PSK Konto 7277.544 BLZ 60.000, key word "Hebammentaschen".
The planned study-trip to Iran in mid-May of 2003 is introduced, although its realisation, again, will be subject to political developments.
Fritz Richter raises the topic of economic mechanisms and asks in this context for ethics.
The theme-nights with Klaus-André Eickhoff and Fritz Neubacher on November 7, 8, and 10 are certainly going to be exciting - and should be visited!!!
